“I want to use Bromine with my Waters Choice Enzyme spa water care system instead of chlorine. The chlorine smell was becoming overwhelming. I also just want to make sure that I don’t kill the enzymes that have been established in my hot tub, help!"
Yes, you CAN use bromine in place of chlorine when using our enzyme system. However the bigger issue here is that you shouldn’t be getting ANY chlorine smell with the amount we ask you to add to your spa water, in addition to our pure enzymes.
As a reminder, you should only be adding about 2 teaspoons of chlorine/sanitizer every other time you use your spa. This amount will not usually show up on your water testing strips and that’s normal.

Cloudy is Normal at First
In addition to that, it’s worth mentioning that it’s also normal for the water to get cloudy when FIRST using our Pure Enzyme spa water cleaner system. If you add more than the recommended amount of chlorine it will clear up the cloudiness or keep it at bay, but then the enzyme environment you worked so hard to achieve won’t be most effective.

We actually want the cloudy phase to run its course and clear up on its own. That’s why we only add 2 teaspoons of chlorine every other use.
What's the Difference?
Chlorine works faster to kill contaminants but for a shorter time, as it dissipates faster. Bromine kills contaminants more slowly but for a longer period of time. Not to mention that with the use of Bromine, your water chemistry stays balanced due to its low pH which means less chemical adjustments are needed.
