Summer is almost here, and we all know what that means. Your season of swimming is almost upon us!
Summertime Swimming
Swimming in the summer is one of our all-time favorite activities and if you’re anything like us you’ll have been counting down the days until it’s warm enough to get in your swimming pool.
In addition, it’s also the time of year when most people living in Northern climates have Spring fever and begin to think about swimming. So, you’re definitely ready to swim, but is your pool? Here are some helpful tips to make sure your pool is completely ready for the swimming season.
If you’ve ever gotten to pool opening season to find that the water in your pool has turned green, know that you can prevent this from happening! Don’t wait, peel the cover back to see how your water is looking.
Crystal Clear Pool Water
If you’re using Waters Choice Pure Enzymes for Pools, your water should be looking crystal clear. If you aren’t on our water care system and your water isn’t clear, add chlorine to the water to clear it up before it’s time to open the pool. Remember with our enzyme system, you can cut out opening and closing chemicals and that leads to BIG SAVINGS for your pocketbook!
Make sure to add Waters Choice enzymes two weeks before you’re ready to swim. When you open your pool or start our enzymes for the FIRST time add 2 ounces per 10,000 gallons of water the first and second week. Add half an ounce per 10,000 gallons every week during your swimming season. In case you forgot how many gallons of water your pool holds, click HERE.
It’s important to watch you water’s pH and alkalinity. They’ll tend to stay on the higher end of the scale and you’ll need to bring them down periodically. Maintain pH between 7.2 and 7.6. Along with that make sure your alkalinity stays between 80 and 120. Maintain a minimum amount of chlorine.
Summer Is Just Around The Corner
We know winter-like weather may still rear it’s ugly head, but rest assured, summer is just around the corner. You’ll be swimming and enjoying the hot temperatures before you know it! Make sure to follow these steps to make sure your pool is completely ready. For more information on how to properly maintain your pool or spa and contact us with any questions.
